Crochet Donations

One of the reasons that I craft is to be able to share these items with others.  When I was diagnosed with RA and Fibromyalgia I made a decision that as long as I could crochet, I would.  I would also try to share as much as possible with others what I made.

In 2015 I was able to start really focusing on donating with Reddit's Santa's Little Helpers.  I had received help there and wanted to give back in any way that I could.  I sent out 17 gifts and it felt wonderful.

I started the new year with the goal of making at least 30 items in 2016 to donate.

At the midway point for the year I am well on track to meet my goal.  18 gifts are completed with several WIPs pending.

Want to Help?

I love making gifts but since I'm disabled and not working I could use help with getting supples.  I go through a lot of yarn!

I really appreciate any donations of supplies that can be sent my way.  If you are in my local area (Granville County, North Carolina) I can arrange to pick up directly.  If not, just send me a message for my mailing address to ship supplies.  I have even been able to arrange with other Reddit users a yarn swap where they send me supplies and I purchase yarn for them that covers the cost of shipping.

Needed Supplies

  • Yarn in any color, weight or yardage.  Leftover yarn from completed projects is perfect!  I'm making a focus on amigurumi so small quanities isn't a problem and can be exactly what I need.  Novelty yarns, one-off skeins and unfinished/unwanted projects will all be used.  Pretty much if you don't see a use for it but it's "too much" to throw away, please send it my way.

  • Polyfill Stuffing for all the dolls and stuffed animals.

  • Felt and Fleece in any color, weight or yardage for detail work on dolls and for lining purses, etc.

  • Embroidery Thread in any color.  Unwanted/Incomplete cross stitch projects can be sent for upcycling.

  • Buttons/Zippers/Costume Jewelry for detail work on purses and other wearable gifts.  Unwanted/Broken purses and jewelry can be sent to be upcycled.
